Building
A Swimming Pool?
A
swimming pool is the ultimate for your outdoor paradise.
Building an in ground swimming pool is major construction rather it is a play
pool, diving pool or lap pool. Our FREE Swimming Pool Design
Guide will help guide you through the considerations and
options for your new in ground swimming pool.
There are many
in ground swimming pool builders, some good,
some bad and those that won't be in business next year.
There are
swimming pool design, landscape design and safety considerations. How will you finance
or pay for your swimming pool?

We have some things for you to consider and think about.
If you are building a swimming pool for your Backyard
Paradise the success of your swimming pool design and good swimming pool
construction will dictate the success of your backyard
landscape.
You are about to make a large purchase. We want you to
have the tools to make the right decision for you and your
family.

Swimming
Pool Design Considerations
Are you in
a new home? If
you
are going to build a swimming pool.
Do it now! Do
it first, before any other landscaping goes in.
Even in your front yard... hold on cowboy! ....If pool
excavation equipment is going anywhere near where you have
landscape, drip irrigation, landscape rock..... it will have
to go through...over.... Whoa boy! .... Those
excavation machines will ground your landscape rock in sooo
deep you won't think you ever put any there!
Build
your in ground swimming pool.
Get it
done!………Then you can get on with your whole landscape
design, your outdoor patio rooms and with your life!
Building
an in ground swimming pool is major construction.
It’s a mess. You
have a giant hole in your back yard with all kinds of trenches
coming and going. Your
windows are so dirty you have to wipe off a peep hole to see
out! ...You
can’t keep your house clean with all the construction
dust.
Looking
at this construction site begins to get on your nerves, much
less workers in your backyard at the crack of dawn…. Your
dog is finding all kinds of ways to escape….. It's
worth it in the end.
Needless
to say, you don’t want to do much or any landscaping before you
build your swimming pool. And probably not during your
swimming pool
construction either.
You
absolutely don’t want to do any planting of any kind where
the pool and deck are going to be
or
in the path of the
equipment from the street, in your front yard and down the
side of your house.
Pay to
put it in! Pay
to take it out!
If you
already have your yard landscaped be prepared for the
removal. The
pool builder has to charge you to take out the grass, trees,
shrubs and concrete, patios, walls etc.
The more you have the more they must charge for
removal and dumping fees.

Do
you want your swimming pool right outside your back patio,
as close to the house as you can get it?
If
you have a small backyard, that may be your only
alternative.
Maybe
you want the water feature centered to be the focal point
from your front door. This
could be very handsome.
In the design of the swimming pool, however, the water feature
does not have to be in the center of the pool.
The swimming pool doesn’t have to be placed in the center of
the yard either.
If
you have small children and will have a pool fence
around your swimming pool, positioning the pool away from the patio
is usually the safest, most practical and most esthetically
pleasing.
Your swimming pool may be beautiful, but it doesn’t look that way if you
are sitting in your family room looking through a jail
like fence at the edge of the patio.
If
your children are big enough to play outside without you,
your life will be easier if they have access to their play
area without having an adult escort them through the fenced
in swimming pool area.
A
swimming pool in a large backyard has a bigger presence if it is
set back in the yard. Grass
between the house and the pool can be connected with
flagstone stepping stones, kool deck pads or a brick path.
Use
Your In ground Swimming Pool Year Round!
Have
you ever had Thanksgiving dinner pool side?
If you live in a warm climate like Phoenix, Arizona,
be sure to have enough deck to handle patio tables for your dinner
crowd!
The
biggest regret many people have after they have built their
pool is they didn’t purchase enough deck.
This is the area for pool lounging and outdoor furniture
around the pool.
Even
with the additional cost it is better to add deck at the
time of your initial swimming pool construction than going
back a year later. A
perfect match when you add it may be difficult….. And who
wants the disturbance of more construction?
If
your swimming pool is close to your house patio or you are
connecting the pool to the patio with a stepping stone path using kool deck,
have your concrete patio covered in the same finish as the
decking material for a pulled together indoor - outdoor look.
Are you going
to finance the purchase of your in ground swimming
pool?
If you do it right, you can
write off the interest at tax time! Your in ground swimming
pool is a home improvement. You can get a home equity
loan for your in ground swimming pool. Your pool will
add to the equity of your home. If you want to see how
you qualify click here.
You can also check with your
bank or credit union.
Pool
Companies have Special Packages
Just
a few technical notes about where to position your swimming pool:
Many pool builders include 50 feet of electrical and
15 feet of plumbing runs in their swimming pool packages.
Electrical is less expensive to install than
plumbing. A gas
line run for heaters is more expensive.
Consider
which side of your house your electrical and your gas
originate when you position the pool equipment.
Then consider how far the pool equipment is from your
in ground swimming pool.
The
closer your pool is to the equipment, the more efficient it
will be and more cost effective to construct.
