Warm up your Porch with a
porch swing, porch furniture, plant stands and a decorative
doorbell cover. Free newsletter to online home and
garden sources, do it yourself projects and money saving
decorating ideas.
Often
it’s the little things that make the difference and give
you the WOW. Imagine
a flower pot you made yourself of mosaic planted with your
favorite blooms by the front door, a wreath on the door, and
your style doorbell cover, rather it be a frog doorbell,
doorbell gecko or even hand painted tile or mosaic doorbell
cover you created.
While standing at your front
door do you look back at the warmth of your front porch and
smile? Do you see your porch filled with porch
furniture and a hanging porch swing? Are there bright
colored porch chair cushions, wonderful plant stands, and
the rug you bought at the yard sale underneath your wood
porch swing?
Do
you spot a little stepping stone path out of the corner of
your eye? Does it start with a special garden stepping
stone made of mosaic. the Victorian stepping stone that is
so your style or are you the resin stepping stone in a sun
face?.....
What
does your front porch and entry say about you to your
guests, family and mostly to you? Does is say what
your decorating style is? Does
it make you feel welcome?

Porch
Light and Landscape Lighting
Now
that your front porch is so great by day- you may want to
sit out here in the evening too. Hmmmm...maybe porch
lighting should be considered.
Candles
are nice with a hurricane to keep the flame from blowing out
- Paint a candle holder you picked up at that garage sale or
swap meet.
Low
voltage landscape lighting is another way to light up your
entry and front porch. You can buy them in sets with
as few as 6 or 8 lights. Use the landscape lighting
spots to up light a tree or porch column. Use the walk
lights to define your walk way at corners, nestled by shrubs
and right along the walk way to the porch step.
The
walkway to your front porch is not the local
airport. Don't confuse the pilots by lining up your
walk lights as if your front walk is the landing strip
runway! Check out a good
selection of landscape
lighting at Yardiac.com

(Decorating Tip: How to
Hang a Wreath. Instead
of putting a nail in the door or using the hook that goes
over the door, hammer
a nail with a large head into the center of the top of the door.
Don’t hammer your nail all the way into top of door.
Leave about 1/8” to ¼” of the nail.
Be sure the nail doesn’t hit the door frame.
Tie nylon monofilament or string to match your door
or wreath to the nail.
Then tie to your wreath or swag at the top making
sure it is positioned just where you want it. You can
leave the nail in the door top and will be ready for your
next wreath!
