Instant
mosaic tile!
When
I knocked my favorite old Mexican flower pot off the garden
window box table I was crushed and so was the flower
pot! I
scooped up all the pieces and let it sit for a couple weeks
then decided this would be a great mosaic art project and a way to preserve
my flower pot.
Because it is hard to mix a tiny bit of
concrete grout, I made a couple other “mosaic” pots at the same
time by gathering up the broken and left over tile from my
built in barbecue project.
I broke these up to make more
"mosaic" tile. You can do the same with any
tile you have. Old dishes, yours or garage sale or
thrift store finds are great.
Use small pebbles, sea shells,
bottle caps, buttons, broken colored glass....
Make mosaic picture frames,
mirror frames, mosaic table tops. You can make just
about anything as mosaic art.
Look
for art objects to "mosaic" at garage sales
and thrift stores. Use your imagination - there are
treasures everywhere!
Shop at
joann.com,
for great objects to cover from
picture frames, bird houses, discs for candle holders and
more.
Recently I found the best
selection of mosaic glass, tile, pebbles, shells, mosaic
adhesives, mosaic grout and great mosaic kits at Dick Blick Art Materials
and MisterArt.com
Put "mosaics" in their search box for all their
great selections.
These
are two of my favorite books because they show just what
mosaic supplies you need and the instructions are very clear
on how to do the mosaic projects step by step. I refer
to them over and over again for ideas and reminders of
techniques.
