Painted
Furniture Has No Limits
Painted furniture is
classy, funky, youthful, sophisticated. whatever you
want it to be. Painted furniture can fit
your decor and your do-it-yourself
abilities.
Furniture that is solid
and well made (has dowel joints etc) is the best to work
with. It is easy to find used at very
affordable prices..
Especially true with used
furniture and like new
furniture..... "Buy
cheap. Buy twice!"
Cheap furniture made of
particle board, flake board, has paper veneer sides, is
stapled together..... Don't buy it used to paint or
redo.
It rarely turns out
well.... doesn't last.... it won't take the moisture of
paint staining.... paints don't penetrate.... falls
apart or gets big holes when you try to cut or
drill...it usually has no style.
You will be wasting your
precious creative time on something that won't
last.
This trio of tapered
legged stack tables are a great example of good used
furniture at affordable prices. Each table
even has a carved detail on the front and a leather
insert top!
The three were only
$60.00! Five bucks each to have them dipped
and stripped. Green, red and blue acrylic paint at
a couple bucks each ( you may even have your paint on
hand). Fine steel wool and a non-yellowing sealant
for the
top.
You have three great
tables in your style, your way for less than
$90.00!
Take that old blanket
chest or hope chest paint all four sides and the
top. Add your design by stenciling, painting,
decoupage, or stamping.
Stamps from foam puzzle
pieces were cut for the design on this chest. Your
stamps can be used on other projects to repeat the
design in the same room or as an accent on accessories
in the adjoining room.

this chest - coffee table and stamps you can make and
use over and over again.......click

Do you have one of
these? Have you passed one up at the last yard
sale or in the thrift store? This size chest
makes a great dresser, night stand, T.V. stand, end
table, hall table....
Paint it up, set a
flagstone top on it and call it your dry bar. A
mosaic top would work well too....
Get out the jig saw
and palm sander....... Grab some paint and
found copper tubing........... We are going to
transform this "Early American" dresser into something
else!

Painted Patio
Furniture
Wood patio furniture
comes in many woods. The best is usually teak or
cedar. Designers and manufactures of this
furniture make beautiful designs. These woods will
patina with weather and time. To give them a
lift...just rub it down with tongue oil.
There are many impostors
of these great designs in woods not as lasting as teak
and cedar. You will find these pieces usually in
pine. They will be stained or even painted to look
like cedar or teak. These impostors are the pieces
you want to play with.
Stabilize the chair or
settee if wobbly. Replace any missing bolts.
You may want to add glue to all the joints.
Clean the furniture
up. If the original finish is flaking, sand it
down or wipe it off. You can paint over old
paint. It might even be part of your painting
scheme.
Paint your
furniture. Bold can be fun. Can you see the
furniture from inside? Select your brightest
accent color from inside - paint your outdoor furniture
the same!
Buy new cushions at home
centers or discounters. They are on sale in the
spring and closeout in July. When the designs won't fit
your decor buy neutral. Make pillows to accent or
a bright cover for the whole cushion.

Do you need a planting
table? What if you had one for planting that could
double as a serving table too? It's easy and
inexpensive to make. Paint it up just for
you! Check out instructions-
