Make Mosaic Craft Flower Pots

Make your mosaic craft flower pots from left over tile, pieces of a favorite broken pot, broken dishes or colored glass. You can find colored dishes and glass at thrift stores and yard sales for a song. 

You can purchase mosaic tile, mosaic glass and mosaic adhesive and grout from mosaic supply stores online.  You can find great mosaic craft kits from mosaic supply stores like the one below.  Click on photo for more.

You may have old pots of a variety of sizes.  If not you can pick them up at garage sales or on sale at garden centers or your favorite discount department store.

Supplies you need:

• Glue or adhesive: Liquid nails works or 

• Mosaic Mercantile Mosaic and Tile Adhesive 4 oz. bottle tile adhesive

• Flower Pot (Or whatever you want to use for your mosaic craft)

• Grout in a color that will work as a good back ground color for your mosaic design craft project:  Jennifer's Mosaics Mosaic Art Sanded Grout bone

• Bucket or container to mix grout in

• Rubber gloves

• Dense Sponge

• Bucket of water  

• Mosaic Mercantile Tile Nipper tile nipper (If you find you like mosaic craft you will want tile nippers for more precise mosaic design).

• Tile, broken ceramic or glass or buy mosaic tile in all sorts of designs, shapes color ....       Milestones Tile and Mosaic Accessories 4 oz. bag heart tiles  

Step 1  

Clean base pot thoroughly.  If it is a clay flower pot you will want to seal the inside by painting a coat of  sealer.  Let dry thoroughly.  

Step 2  

Prepare your tile.  You may need to break in pieces small enough to glue on base flower pot. Be sure your tile is clean and dry.  

Step 3  

Glue your mosaic pieces to your base flower pot. Liquid nails or Mosaic Mercantile Mosaic and Tile Adhesive 4 oz. bottle tile adhesive will do the trick.

Let dry thoroughly.  

Step 4  

Grout your mosaic by mixing the grout following the instructions on the bag in a bucket or other container. You may want to grout several pieces at one time because it is hard to mix a very small amount of grout.  

Jennifer's Mosaics Mosaic Art Sanded Grout bone is a good one. 

While working with the mosaic grout wear rubber gloves. 

Take small handfuls of the grout and work it between the mosaic pieces until you have thoroughly covered the mosaic flower pot. 

Now take your damp sponge and wipe off the excess while smoothing your grout.  You may dip the sponge in your bucket of water several times during this process.  Wring excess water.

Let dry completely.

Voila!  You have just created a great Mosaic Art Object

for your Home or Garden!  Enjoy!
