Woodworking Project: Wood Beam and Dowel Garden Bench

Wood Beam and Dowel Bench

This bench can add extra seating on your patio or front porch.
It is a great welcoming piece on an entry walk and also 
serve as a window ledge from the inside looking out.

The bench seat or top is made from a found wood scrap in a 
friends wood scrap pile. The dowel was found at a garage sale 
for a song. Sometimes the garage sale hosts will give you wood 
scraps if you will just carry them away!

Supplies 

· Three to five foot long 4 x 10 beam.
This one is 50 inches long.

· Wood clothes closet dowel cut into four equal lengths for legs.
These are 15 inches long

· Drill with bit the diameter of your dowel.

· Liquid nails or good all purpose handyman glue.

Step 1

Mark your spots where you want your legs to mount into the wood beam, measuring so they are equal distance from the out side edges and ends.

Step 2


Drill holes.

Step 3

Glue legs to top. Put glue in the holes and on the leg ends. Let set up following glue package instructions.

After setting up and glue dries thoroughly set your bench up right.

Ta Daaa! You have just created a great bench to sit on or display great Art Objects. Enjoy
