Decorating Resources Come
in many forms. Sometimes it is just being aware of
your surroundings. Do you have a favorite
retail you like to look at the displays?
Have you ever visited
high end furniture stores, home accessory departments in
expensive departments stores?
Home tours are a fabulous
resource. Most cities and even some neighborhoods have
them. Usually the proceeds go to a good cause.
You will see the work of some of the best interior designers
in your area.
Great up to date ideas!
What about model
homes? Don't just look at the $150,000 homes go into
the $200,000 - $500,000. That's where your going to
see great decorating and lots of Pizzazz.
When visiting the model
homes, take your time and really look at how the decorator
put things together.... How the valence on the bathroom tub
is hung..... The detail of tassels on the draperies.....
Keep in mind you are
looking for ideas and techniques that fit your own
decorating style.

MAGAZINES
Some of my favorite
resources are magazines. There are dozens of home
decorating magazines. I subscribe to lots of
them. I keep them for ideas. When you see something
you might do or inspires you stick a post it
note on the page...Cut it out and start a notebook.
Sometimes you may only
like the shape of a vase or the way a tray sits on an
ottoman and nothing else in the photo. Take a felt tip pin and
draw an arrow
pointing to the item.
Once you have taken
The
Decorating Style Tests and feel comfortable knowing what you
like it will be easy for you to decide which magazines you
want to subscribe to. Many of them have a style theme.
