Discover Your Own
Home Decorating
Style
What
is your home decorating style?
Do you know? Most
people don’t. Our workshops will help you define your style and never make another decor
mistake
Most are unclear what their
home decorating style is, how to describe it, much less implement it.
Do
you
already have a decorating style? Yes....
It
is based on your tastes.
Your taste is what you have been exposed to, your
life experiences, it is what you like.
These are the things you are intuitively attracted to
and places where you feel comfortable.
You
probably have no problem responding to things you like when shopping and even
dressing. You
are feeling and showing your distinct taste and style as you
walk through a shop, art fair, clothing or home store, yard
sale or flea market.
No
one has to tell you what you like and don’t like.
You just know.
You
are born with your intuitive taste and style. It is not
learned. You can develop your taste by being aware of your feelings
and what attracts your eye.
Your
taste is only influenced by life’s experiences and
exposures from environment, travel, architecture, what you
read, furniture design, shapes and textures, color…
fabrics……
There
are definite “I like it” in your taste and as important
the “Not for me” in your taste.
Can
you learn to identify and understand your taste?
Yes, with that
knowledge you will build
and develop your decorating style based on
your taste. You already have it.
Maybe you just haven’t identified it yet.
Once
you can easily identify your taste you will understand your
style from balance, color, arrangement, and form.
You will be so confident in your own taste and style
you won’t question it.
Would
you like to have the confidence to not feel compelled to conform
to anyone else’s taste or style?
Would you like to shun the fads and fashion? Do
you want to know be confident of what you like?
When
you dress each day you may already be exercising your
creativity in your taste.
Did you know the way you already entertain, work and
decorate now reveals your taste?
You
already know what you love, what inspires you
and what makes you feel good.
Maybe
you've never thought about it. How would you like to
have the tools to help you zoom in on what you like?
Do
you want to play an easy game? Start identifying your taste
by consciously noticing what you instinctively like and don’t
like as you walk through a store, office, gallery,
restaurant, or model homes.
Notice. Go with your gut feel.
That’s your taste.
Don’t second guess.
Start
feeling your space and environment wherever
you are. Even
when you go to a restaurant or someone else’s home take
notice of how you feel when you are there.
Are
you comfortable or relaxed?
Are you nervous or do you feel hurried?
Could you stay awhile?
Do you just want to get out of there?
Look to see if you can identify why.
Would
a few exercises help you focus in on your taste? How
would you like to just know what you like is right
and that you are building your very own style and can
decorate your way?
Following
are several workshops to help you express your taste and
listen to your intuition.
Your discovery of attitude and reactions may surprise
you. This new
awareness of feelings will be very useful when
decorating your
way.
After
you have done In Out Decor's Home Decorating Taste/Style Workshops you will understand
why you may feel the way you do in different spaces.
You will see how your style is created from your
taste.
To
get the best success from our Home Decorating Taste/Style Workshops you must
be open minded, honest, completely free of outside
influences. Can
you give
yourself permission to be a child again? Go with your gut and say what you think.
You don’t have to be polite, proper, just raw
honesty from your being.
You
are working with your feelings. Get out of your head.
Can you let
your instincts be free?
This exercise is based on what you honestly like and
don’t like. No
restraints!
This
workshop is key to developing and establishing your
decorating style !
The
Workshop has four parts.
The first one is to get you warmed up.
Get you out of your head and go to your instincts,
your gut, your emotions.
The
second
part of the workshop is for you to discover what you
like. We will call it the “I like it” part.
The
third part is doing the same exercises as the second but to
discover what you don’t like.
This step in your discovery is just as important as
what you like, maybe more important.
Knowing what you really don’t like and why will
save you time, money and decorating mistakes. We will call this part “Not for me.”
Remember
you still have the same opinions you had as a child.
Take that innocence and freedom back.
Let all inhibitions go.
You were free to express your own feelings and
opinions. These workshops are about you and what you like,
not expectations of others.
This
is your workshop.
This is your decorating style.
